Where's Floppy? HERE HE IS!!!
As far as I know, this is the first Floppy website. The site has grown quite a bit thanks to fan support. Even if you never got to watch Floppy on TV, sit back and enjoy his story.
Floppy was born in 1957. Duane Ellett carved his head out of balsa wood; his body was made by Duane's wife Lois, and his sweater was lovingly knitted by Duane's mother-in-law, Cora Nystrom. Floppy appeared on TV for 30 years and was loved by young and old alike. I cried when Duane died...now Floppy and his non-human friends, including Matilda the Snake and Stan Dean (Floppy's stand-in) can be seen at The Iowa State Historical Building; 600 E. Locust St.; Des Moines, IA. You can even catch a few minutes of Floppy's TV life.
Kind, talented Duane died of a heart attack in June 1987, and I was crushed. I'm sure many other children were sad as well...so I build this humble site in honor of Floppy and Duane, and part with these words: Why did the man put the car in the oven? BECAUSE HE WANTED A HOT ROD!
